What did you want to be when you were little?
When I was very young I had a Tressie Doll; she had a button on her tummy and when you pushed it, her hair grew. I loved playing with her and decided that all I ever wanted to be was a hairdresser, but my Mum wouldn’t let me. She worked as a secretary and thought that would be a better option for me too.
Describe your average day.
I like to be organised and every afternoon before I leave work I create a list of things that I need to do the next day. Then when I get in, in the morning the first thing I do is go through this list. I’ll then check my emails, sort through the post and action anything that needs to be done. It’s my responsibility to raise new jobs and create estimates for the designers, so I’ll add these into our system and organise any print quotes that are needed.
Once the designers have finished something, I proof read it, and bind any documents. Other than that it’s just general office admin such as answering the telephone, meeting and greeting visitors and sorting out refreshments for them. Of course, there is always the ongoing tidying of the office and kitchen and the nagging when someone has left a scalpel on the cutting board!
What’s the best part of your job?
I love talking, so the best part of my job is getting to meet and greet our clients. I also enjoy talking to our lovely suppliers.
How would you describe MAXX Design in one word?
