Is it the Beginning of the End for Twitter as we know it?

Following multiple rumours over the past year or so, the biggest indication yet of changes to Twitter have been revealed. This time, it’s not a misleading headline around 10,000 character tweets, but a highly credible source reporting that Twitter will no longer count images and links as part of its 140 characters, meaning an additional 45 characters will be available (assuming you are including both a link and image).

Hosting: Easy as 123?

Tech gurus aside, the majority of people have never given a thought to how their website, prime business real-estate, is run, or who looks after and hosts it for that matter.

Chances are this changed sometime around Monday afternoon, when major news outlets were reporting that hosting provider 123-reg had deleted “an unspecified number” of the 1.7 million sites it hosts in the UK. Cue everybody ringing the tech-team and checking their website with bated breath.

Should you trust your Google analytics data?

Using Google Analytics to measure and track how users interact with a website has become a common way of collecting important and actionable data. It allows us to track where users are entering a site, how they navigate through it, which pages or posts they engage with most and the volume of traffic as a whole. So, it is safe to say that we rely on this monthly data in order to measure and improve what we are doing online. So just how accurate is the data that we are receiving and should we trust it?

Your Google update reminder

Recently, we published an article on the brand new Google rule for mobile web browsing and mobile websites. The new update advised us that Google would give mobile friendly websites priority in organic search results, and would penalise non-mobile friendly websites. On the 21st April Google has publicly stated it will be giving preference in its search results to websites that are “mobile friendly”. This is an interesting development as very rarely does Google give explicit direction in relation to how its algorithms operate. You may have received an email already from Google if you use Webmaster Tools stating “Google systems have tested X pages from your site and found that 100% of them have critical mobile usability errors.
