From concept to reality

Despite the popularity of digital marketing, there is still a place for traditional printed marketing materials. MAXX knows that Direct Mail pieces in particular are often responsible for lead generation and customer retention. We’ve recently undertaken a number of Direct Mail projects involving rugby balls, cupcakes and jelly beans… but we’ll update you on those later in the year!

Today we want to tell you about a piece created for valued client Newsells Park Stud, a stud with three main stallions, that is “focused on breeding and raising exceptional thoroughbreds, capable of competing at the highest level on the international racing circuit”. Two of the stallions, Mount Nelson and Equiano, are an ideal choice for those looking to breed high class Group winners at great value.

MAXX has previously designed the branding used to promote both stallions, creating confident and striking logos for both horses.   Newsells approached MAXX to design a piece of direct mail that showcased the studs to potential breeders. The horses have terrific value, for example for a fee of only £6,000 Mount Nelson is the leading stallion in Britain standing for under £40,000. This combined with the horses’ success gave the campaign two clear messages: ‘looking for a Group winner’ and ‘looking for value’.

Our Creative Director Matt Barrett designed a clever, but quirky piece of print that directly highlights both aspects of Newsells proposition. As you can see from the images above, the piece was cut to look like a pair of racetrack binoculars, printed with a matt lamination and finished off with a SPOT UV gloss on the lenses of the binoculars to make them shine.

This bespoke piece of print was accompanied by a covering letter and branded bag of chocolate coins. The finished product contains messaging and images that are on point and on brand in a professional, yet memorable piece of marketing. We are confident that it will make an impact when it lands on breeders’ desks! Newsells is also thrilled with the finished design -

"The unique and relevant design and shape of our innovative binoculars mailer to promote our stallions really ensured we stood out and were talked about.  The chocolate coins also went down very well!'
 - Jackie Hutchinson, marketing consultant for Newsells Park Stud
