2019's Pantone colour of the year - Living Coral
It looks like 2019 is set to be more vibrant and a little bit more tropical!
Or at least that’s the tone that’s come from Pantone’s colour of the year.
For the past 20 years Pantone has released their chosen colour to represent the year ahead. It influences product development and purchasing decisions made in a number of industries including fashion, home, graphic design and packaging.
Living Coral is described by Pantone as an “animating and life-affirming coral hue, with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge”. Our youngest graphic designer Emily is very keen on the choice, explaining “it’s a warm, fun colour that will look great on projects in the summer”.
Pantone explains that Living Coral is a nurturing colour and the colour makes a strong connection to technology and social media.
This is a big change from last years Colour of the Year Ultraviolet - an imaginative shade of blue based purple. As mentioned in last years blog article, colours have the power to stimulate, excite, depress, tranquilise, increase appetite and create a feeling of warmth or coolness. This year Pantone have gone with a colour that is bright and, as discussed, has a strong connection with technology and social media so it won’t be long until this colour takes over social media in 2019!
