An ethical agency

A business built on sound ethics.

Integrity is at the heart of our business and we treat customers, staff, suppliers, partners and the environment with dignity, honesty, and respect at all times.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is at the very core of our business in terms of employee recruitment, retention, reputation and brand. Importantly, our CSR activities have significantly contributed to making MAXX a happy place to work! In late 2021, MAXX was awarded the GOLD standard CSR Accreditatation, underlining our commitment to the importance of CSR.

MAXX – actively helping the
environment

We are working with the innovative environmental organisation, Ecologi.com, who are currently planting 214 trees a month on our behalf. By the end of 2022 this will result in our own forest of 2,568 trees!

Each month MAXX’s tree planting programme saves 15 tonnes of carbon which is equivalent to:

  • The carbon emitted through 12 long-haul flights (that’s the whole plane!)
  • Saving 45 cubic metres of sea ice from melting
  • The CO2 produced by a car driving 37,240 miles!

MAXX is also committed to the target of zero waste to landfill as well as being carbon neutral.

As part of our ESG sustainability plan,
we commit to:

  • Meeting or exceeding all environmental legislation that relates to the Company.
  • Minimising waste by evaluating operations and ensuring they are as efficient as possible.
  • Minimising toxic emissions through the sourcing of our power requirements.
  • Actively promoting recycling both internally and seek to reduce consumption of materials in our operations with our customers and suppliers. We will reuse or recycle materials whenever possible rather than throw them away.
  • Encouraging staff to recycle paper, cardboard, plastics, cans and glass by using the office recycling facilities.
  • Using an accredited program to offset the greenhouse gas emissions generated by our activities.
  • Promoting the efficient use of energy in an economical and environmentally sound manner by promoting energy conservation and where economically viable, investment in energy saving technology and management. (Examples of this are ensuring the office has low energy (LED) lighting systems and that our electricity supply is from renewable sources).
  • Communicating with ourselves, our prospects, clients and suppliers via email, phone or Zoom calls whenever possible, thus reducing travel time, fuel and paper use.
  • Recycling printer cartridges (however since moving offices we print very little internally!)
  • Working principally with suppliers and business partners who can demonstrate that they can minimise (or have zero) impact of their activity on the environment.

In 2021 we used…

70% less electricity

than in 2019.

Over the last 2 years we have prevented…

8,604kg of carbon emissions

by reducing un-necessary travel.

Our four pillars of CSR

1. Environmental CSR
Having recently moved into new offices (and with the help of Covid-19) we have reduced our energy use and car journeys by 78%. We will continue to minimise any negative impact on the environment through energy saving, recycling and encouraging positive supply-chain operations.

2. Community-based CSR
We partner with community initiatives, education and the Arts to enrich, support and learn from our local community. Many of our team members are involved in community initiatives which we often support.

3. Workplace CSR
We support diversity and inclusion as well as encouraging our team to develop personally. We have a very loyal team, several have worked with us for over 10 years.

4. Philanthropic CSR
We offer reduced rates and/or help-in-kind for charities and not-for-profit organisations, as well as donating to charities and good causes. Our Head of Business Development, Will is an Ambassador for Time to Talk (West Berkshire Mental Health Charity) and is a founding member of The Chee Foundation (providing vital grants to small charities). One of our designers, Stephen, has raised a considerable amount of money for Newbury Cancer Care through taking part in sponsored mountain bike races.

The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

In November 2021 we began the process of following the UN’s SDGs (https://sdgs.un.org/goals) programme.

The SDGs that we are supporting are:

  • 3. Good Health and Well-Being
  • 4. Quality Education
  • 7. Affordable and Clean Energy
  • 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • 12. Responsible Consumption and Production and
  • 15. Life on Land.
