Graphic design to revolutionise your business

Spring clean your visual identity

Springtime is a time of new beginnings and a time to maybe refresh your visual identity and look very closely at the marketing messages that you are giving to your clients. Although the economic climate continues to be fairly gloomy, some businesses continue to be optimistic. In a recent business breakfast attended by MAXX, there was definite evidence that rather than “battening down the hatches”, some companies are taking the recession as an opportunity to pause and refocus on what really matters in preparation for the inevitable upturn.

One area where this is possible is to review your visual identity – how your business portrays itself in print and online. Your company’s visual identity forms part of its overall brand identity and at a time of downturn, it can be the difference between success and failure. Your brand is your company’s signature; it links to everything that you do and represents all that you are. A struggling brand will not help a business succeed and yet a successful brand is arguably your greatest asset.

Why? Well when taken at the highest level of influence, a brand can drive revenue growth, promote employee loyalty and help to attract and retain the right personnel. Good brand perception also means that you can command a premium for your service, so when your competitors are looking at cutting their prices to retain business, with a strong brand you can maintain or even increase your prices. Here’s a great quote that happens to be true:

“Product differentiation gets eroded, customers expire, prices get undercut, services get copied, but brands last forever, if managed properly.”

MAXX recently worked with top photographer, Allister Freeman to help him redefine his visual identity and raise the profile of his business online. We developed a highly personalised new logo that reflected the ethos and culture of his business – and then created a website that was inspired by the new logo and Allister’s own unique style. The site not only showcases his outstanding photography for prospective clients but also works to bring in new business because we carefully researched how to best promote the site via the search engines and optimised it to bring in new enquires.

The rebrand has completely moved my business on and the website has more than paid for itself in terms of brand awareness and new customers.”
